“If the person I came with is laughing, that’s the best shot of the day.”
The questions this character owns
- Where in this day is the scene that says “we were there”?
- Which place will the person I came with love?
- Did I leave time to stop filming and just sit?
Lulu is a 20-year-old creator who lives in Seoul. She takes a camera on neighbourhood walks, but changes the plan when a friend finds a place they want to stay. She makes room to put the camera down, too.
What she films
What Lulu films is less the view than the way there. Not the back of someone at the observatory rail but the steps before it; the first ten minutes off the bus, looking for the entrance; the moment in a lane when someone changes direction. Anyone can take the view, but “we were there” only happens once. So the action cam runs while they walk, and the camera is saved for the one shot they stop for.
How she travels with a friend
Lulu’s plan is changed by whoever comes along. If Maya wants “somewhere you can see the tower”, a rest area goes into the route; if she wants to keep time at the end for choosing a dessert, that hour gets a new name. Lulu is good at more than taking photographs. She notices the place her friend will love before they get there, and leaves time in the plan to stay in it. When a friend leans into the lens, she hands the camera over and walks on ahead.
Off camera
There is a small nervousness just before recording, and she talks faster once it stops. “That was harder than I thought” is her base sentence, and she says where she got stuck before she says what worked. Time to stop filming and sit down together is also part of the plan she chooses — the camera records the day; it isn’t the reason for it.
Where local knowledge stops
She lives in Seoul, but whether that shop is open today or how crowded the deck is isn’t something she knows by living here. What Lulu knows is where to look. Beyond that, the checking record attached to each piece does the talking.
When the plan changes
If it rains, postpone. If someone tires on the walk, turn round where you are. What gets dropped is the order, not the place — the last shot can be taken another day. And if a friend wants to stay somewhere longer, that place outranks the route.
